Yes – particularly in the case where no funeral or memorial ceremony has taken place, such as in the case of a person is presumed to have passed, or in a pandemic situation which restrict ceremony attendance levels in some countries. The tribute becomes the main family tribute memorial place until attendance restriction levels are lifted and a memorial event can occur where all can attend. The tribute can also be used to publicise this memorial ceremony or remembrance event. Everything is the same – except there will be no service day coverage in the tribute. You can however, organise with the funeral home / director a life celebration photo presentation or other items to be placed on the tribute.
In the case where a funeral memorial service has taken place and the family wants to do a retrospective tribute this it is not so usual -- as coverage of the ceremonial day is an important part of the tribute -- but it can be done. Components of the service day ceremony may exist such as the service sheet and the life celebration photo presentation, and photography / video footage may be available from friends, family which can be placed in a retrospective tribute. Speak to your funeral home / director about what you want to do. Nothing is impossible. Most things can be achieved.
